The Chamber’s Housing and Workforce Transformation report shows the relatively high home value compared to income in Federal Way, illustrating that housing stock is outpacing the median household income in the area. What is your strategy to diversify and expand workforce housing in the City?
Federal Way primarily functions as a residential hub in South King County, according to data from the Chamber’s Rethinking the Commuter Economy in Federal Way report. What are your economic development plans to balance Federal Way’s continuing evolution from a bedroom community that exports significant talent to an urban community that provides living wage job opportunities for its residents.
We continue to work to bring living wage jobs home to our community and supporting local businesses. Federal Way is thriving with new opportunities and we have attracted major businesses like Pape Kenworth, Smith Brothers Dairy, All City Fence and more, creating jobs and boosting our local economy. By revitalizing downtown and supporting businesses, we are building a stronger community for everyone. With the coming of light rail on December 6 there will be more business and retail and the downtown will be more vertical in scale. Our city is literally changing before our very eyes as we become a city on the rise!
The Chamber Pivotal Partnership is a branding initiative that supports our business community through Chamber investment. Do you plan to continue that Partnership during your tenure? If yes, what Chamber initiatives are of particular interest to you?
Do you have any previous experience with the local government office you seek? If yes, please describe.
How does your campaign engage with the community, i.e., local office, door-to-door, phone calls, direct mail, email, social media, town hall/community meetings. Do you plan to continue the same involvement if elected?
What is you campaign budget, how much have you raised, and what are you primary sources of funding?
I am happy to report that to date we have raised over $140,000. Those efforts are ongoing. We are confident I will have the resources to communicate effectively with our residents. This amount includes contributions from residents, local and regional businesses, labor unions, and advocacy groups.
Please share your major endorsements from the South Sound region (This scope should include the surrounding South King area in addition to Federal Way itself).

I led the discussion at City Council to become a Pivotal Partner again after current leadership decided to drop our partnership with the Chamber. It is vital that the City and the Chamber work together.

As Mayor, I will continue to prioritize open communication: hosting regular coffee chats in neighborhoods, town hall meetings several times a year, and maintaining a transparent digital presence so residents and businesses can easily access information about city decisions. People deserve to know what is happening in their government and I will make sure that they do.

Economic development resources at the Chamber include a series of reports and dashboards that identify business growth trends in a range of industry sectors for Federal Way as well as South King County. Where do you see job creation potential to develop income opportunities, beyond the retail/hospitality sector, for residents of Federal Way?
As a policy body for City government, what will you do to make starting and/or expanding a business in Federal Way more timely, efficient, and cost-effective?
After serving eight years on the Council and now having been off for four, I’ve had the chance to step back and hear fresh input from stakeholders about where Federal Way is headed. Many have shared that there are still challenges for business developers and individuals wanting to invest here. I see that as both a challenge and an opportunity—we need to change that perception, or the reality, by working together to get to the bottom of it and create a more business-friendly environment.
My interest in serving on the Land Use and Transportation Committee is rooted in the opportunity to work closely with staff and stakeholders to identify where we’re running into problems. In talking with business leaders, I’ve heard clearly that the permitting process takes far too long and often involves constant back-and-forth—which we know translates into higher costs and lost opportunities. Currently, I understand it can take roughly 120 days to get a permit for a new business, and that timeline must be reduced.
The Chamber of Commerce and the City of Federal Way need to partner more closely on economic development. By updating and expanding on the Chamber’s previous permitting survey through a joint effort, we can gather current data to better understand today’s challenges within City Hall and the Community Development Department. We should also look to other cities of similar size and demographics to learn how they’ve successfully sped up permitting. With these combined insights, we can streamline permitting, cut delays, remove barriers, and strengthen our local economy to create a thriving community.
We have been focused on connecting with voters directly through doorbelling, which has allowed me to listen firsthand to community concerns. I’ve also used videos to share updates and connect with voters on various social media platforms. Beyond that, our campaign has engaged through email, direct mail, and in-person events.
I have also continued to attend community events and have been the type of person who stays connected with stakeholders, organizations, businesses, and neighbors. That’s how I make sure I’m hearing different perspectives and keeping a pulse on what matters most in our city.
When elected, I will be looking to host gatherings where we can all come together and chat about our community. Just as I did during my eight years previously serving on the Council, I will continue to publish my personal cell phone number so residents can reach me directly.
What you can expect from me is a willingness to think outside the box when it comes to staying engaged with our community. I am absolutely excited about this work and eager to stay connected with voters who are focused on having constructive conversations—good, bad, and everything in between.

Where do you see job creation potential to develop income opportunities, beyond the retail/hospitality sector, for residents of Federal Way?
Healthcare is already identified as a strategic priority for Federal Way. It provides stable, recession-resistant jobs while also improving access to essential services for our community. But for healthcare to expand here, we also need investment in facilities and infrastructure which creates additional opportunities in construction. With our central location between Seattle and Tacoma and easy access to the Eastside, we’re well-positioned for growth in the skilled trades. As housing demand continues to rise, construction will not only provide excellent wages for local workers but also help us meet the urgent need for more housing as well.
Supporting these two sectors means creating family-wage jobs while addressing critical community needs including healthcare access, housing supply, and infrastructure.
As a policy body for City government, what will you do to make starting and/or expanding a business in Federal Way more timely, efficient, and cost-effective?
Permitting delays cost small businesses thousands of dollars before they even open their doors. As a councilmember, my goal would be to work with my fellow council members and mayor to simplify and expedite the permit review process so businesses can launch without being burdened by unnecessary red tape. Streamlining permitting is one of the most impactful and immediate steps we can take to make Federal Way a more business-friendly city and to support local entrepreneurs who are investing in our community.
The Chamber Pivotal Partnership is a branding initiative that supports our business community through Chamber investment. Do you plan to continue that Partnership during your tenure? If yes, what Chamber initiatives are of particular interest to you?
Yes, I do plan to continue supporting the Pivotal Partnership during my tenure. I look forward to digging deeper into how this program benefits both residents and our business community. I’m aware that the City’s investment in it is a relatively new commitment.
The Chamber already advocates on issues like workforce development, education, and business regulation. I believe those are essential to keeping Federal Way competitive and creating quality jobs.
Do you have any previous experience with the local government office you seek? If yes, please describe.
I also bring professional experience working in municipal government, which has given me a strong understanding of how cities operate and how policy decisions affect residents and businesses. Beyond that, I regularly attend city council meetings, engage with city staff, and stay involved in community discussions on public safety, housing, and economic development.
These experiences, combined with relationships I’ve built with business owners, housing advocates, and industry stakeholders, mean I can step into this role ready to make informed, practical decisions on day one.
How does your campaign engage with the community, i.e., local office, door-to-door, phone calls, direct mail, email, social media, town hall/community meetings. Do you plan to continue the same involvement if elected?
I’ve served on city commissions, attended council meetings, and worked closely with Federal Way residents. Being accessible and listening directly to people is the foundation of good representation, and when elected, I’ll continue that same level of engagement by staying present, open, and responsive to our community.

Lakehaven: Water & Sewer Commissioner
Website:
Education:
How does Lakehaven Water & Sewer District provide benefits and support growth to businesses operating in our region?
Lakehaven Water & Sewer District plays a vital role in supporting local businesses and encouraging economic growth in our region. By providing reliable, high-quality water and sewer services, the District ensures that businesses—from small shops to large commercial operations—have the essential infrastructure they need to operate efficiently.
In addition to core services, Lakehaven actively plans for future growth through smart infrastructure investment and long-term system upgrades. This kind of foresight means that as new businesses move in or existing ones expand, the District can meet increased demand without compromising service quality.
Moreover, Lakehaven works collaboratively with developers and business owners during the planning and permitting process. That helps streamline projects, reduce delays, and create an environment where business development is both practical and sustainable.
In short, Lakehaven supports business growth not just by keeping the taps running, but by being a proactive partner in the economic vitality of our community.
What is your fiscal management strategy for long-range planning of our water and sewer resources?
My fiscal management strategy for long-range planning is centered around three key principles: sustainability, transparency, and smart investment.
First and foremost, we need to ensure that Lakehaven’s water and sewer systems are financially sustainable for the long haul. That means maintaining a strong reserve, planning for future infrastructure needs, and avoiding sudden rate spikes that burden ratepayers. I believe in using multi-year budgeting and forecasting tools to anticipate costs and prioritize projects before they become urgent—and expensive.
Second, transparency is critical. Ratepayers deserve to know where their money is going and why. I’d advocate for clear communication around budgets, capital projects, and long-term plans so that the community is part of the decision-making process. This is, in part. why I feel I am an excellent candidate for this position. With my background in Graphic Design, advertising and Marketing, as well as my experience as a Creative Director, I am experienced to being the face and thought leader behind strategic campaigns. My plan involves creating an online information portal where our community can inform themselves, and actively engage others, in regards to some of the issues we face in our water and sewer district.
Finally, smart investment is about putting our dollars where they’ll have the most long-term impact—whether that’s upgrading aging infrastructure, investing in new technologies for efficiency, or securing our water resources against the impacts of climate change and population growth.
Good fiscal management isn’t just about cutting costs—it’s about making responsible choices today that protect both our environment and our ratepayers tomorrow.
The Chamber Pivotal Partnership is a branding initiative that supports our business community through Chamber investment. Do you plan to continue that Partnership during your tenure? If yes, what Chamber initiatives are of particular interest to you?
Yes, I absolutely plan to continue supporting the Chamber Pivotal Partnership during my tenure. I believe strong collaboration between the Water & Sewer District and the Chamber is essential for a thriving, connected community.
The Chamber plays a vital role in supporting local businesses, and as a Commissioner, I see that partnership as an opportunity to align infrastructure planning with economic development. I'm especially interested in initiatives that focus on small business growth, workforce development, and regional planning. These areas directly connect to the services we provide—because when our infrastructure is reliable and forward-thinking, it creates a solid foundation for business success.
I also value the Chamber's role in advocacy and communication. They help make sure the voices of business owners and community members are heard, and that’s a partnership I’d like to strengthen even further.
Do you have any previous experience with the local government office you seek? If yes, please describe.
How does your campaign engage with the community, i.e., local office, door-to-door, phone calls, direct mail, email, social media, town hall/community meetings. Do you plan to continue the same involvement if elected?
Community connection is at the heart of my campaign. I’ve made it a priority to be accessible and present—whether that’s through door-to-door conversations, attending community events, engaging on social media, or simply picking up the phone when someone has a question. I believe people want to be heard, and I’ve worked hard to make sure they feel that way throughout this campaign.
I also use email updates and social media to keep folks informed about what’s happening, and I’ve really valued the one-on-one conversations that come from knocking on doors and being out in the community. Those interactions help shape my understanding of what matters most to the people I hope to serve.
If elected, I absolutely plan to continue that level of involvement. Transparency and accessibility shouldn’t stop after the election—they should be a regular part of how we lead. I want people to feel confident they can reach out to their Water & Sewer Commissioner and get a real response. That’s how trust is built, and it’s how good decisions get made.
What is you campaign budget, how much have you raised, and what are you primary sources of funding?
My campaign is grassroots and community-focused, with a modest budget that reflects the nature of the position. My primary sources of funding are local residents—friends, neighbors, and community members who believe in responsible, transparent leadership.
I’ve been very intentional about keeping costs low and focusing on direct, meaningful outreach—things like yard signs, printed materials, and community events, rather than big, expensive ad campaigns. I’m not backed by large special interest groups; my support comes from individuals who care about the future of our water and sewer infrastructure and want someone they can trust to manage it wisely.
To me, that kind of grassroots support means everything—and it reflects the kind of Commissioner I aim to be: accessible, accountable, and community-driven.
Please share your major endorsements from the South Sound region (This scope should include the surrounding South King area in addition to Federal Way itself).
Have you contracted with a firm or individual to manage your campaign? If so, please provide the name and address of the firm/ individual.
My plan for managing this campaign is to stay focused on what matters most: connecting with the community and sharing a clear, honest vision for how I’ll serve as Water & Sewer Commissioner. I’m keeping things organized and efficient—prioritizing direct outreach like door-to-door conversations, community events, and social media engagement to make sure voters feel informed and heard.
I’m also lucky to have a small but dedicated group of volunteers helping with everything from communications to sign placement and outreach. We’re running this campaign with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to staying true to the values of public service.
Above all, I’m committed to managing the campaign in a way that reflects how I’ll approach the job itself—thoughtfully, responsibly, and always with the community’s best interest at heart.

How does your campaign engage with the community, i.e., local office, door-to-door, phone calls, direct mail, email, social media, town hall/community meetings. Do you plan to continue the same involvement if elected?
My campaign has been built on direct voter engagement, I've knocked over 1,000 doors throughout the district and made over 500 phone calls to connect with residents personally. I maintain active Facebook and Instagram accounts to keep the community informed about my campaign and utility issues. I've also attended numerous community events, from the Kiwanis Salmon Bake to the Federal Way Community Festival, because face to face interaction is essential for understanding residents' concerns. When elected, I'm committed to bringing this same level of community engagement to the commissioner role. One of my key priorities is improving transparency at Lakehaven. Currently, the district records meetings but residents can't access these videos without filing public records requests, I believe we should post all meetings on YouTube for easy public access. Lakehaven also doesn't maintain any social media presence, which I think should change to keep residents informed about projects, service updates, and meeting schedules.
The same grassroots approach that built my campaign door to door conversations, community event participation, and accessible communication. This will guide how I serve as commissioner. Transparency and community engagement aren't just campaign promises, they're essential for accountable utility governance.
